Innovation according to Pierre DeRoche
Pierre DeRoche is inaugurating its first collections with the exclusive Concentric chronograph. This original watch , embodying the quintessence of technical progress achieved in the field of mechanical chronographs, is a vivid illustration of the Pierre DeRoche spirit. A tiny and precious mechanism providing its own interpretation of the running of the universe, and which may be carried anywhere and everywhere. A rare watch in which each stage of production is in keeping with the watchmaking traditions of the Vallée de Joux.

Refining the lines

A distinctive rectangular case featuring imposing dimensions softened by a gentle curve, pure lines not devoid of sharp angles, and original oval-shaped lugs: the Concentric chronograph is characterised by an extremely understated design. The latter is underscored by the simplicity of steel or the elegance of rose gold, combined with daringly contemporary dials.

Like any creative act, design often resembles the work of a someone panning for gold… During the aesthetic conception of a watch and thanks to the use of the most innovative technologies, each line is meticulously worked on, each curve is sketched so as to merge with the curve of the wrist, and each material is carefully selected. The ultimate purpose being to achieve true harmony through a subtle blend of character and elegance, technical performance and readability.

Simplifying read-off

The Concentric chronograph is driven by an exclusive self-winding calibre designed to simplify reading off the time measured by the chronograph. The three superimposed chronograph hands sweep over a single counter – instead of three separate ones – located at 6 o’clock. For the first time in the world, a device provides an extremely fast and precise spontaneous analog read-off. Moreover, a small seconds subdial at 12 o’clock gives a permanent additional indication.

The fact that Pierre DeRoche has focused on simplicity of operation was motivated by the wish to provide sports enthusiasts and all those looking for a reliable and extremely precise measuring instrument with an analog read-off of the time measured by the chronograph. This technological innovation is backed by a sophisticated dial design using contrasts to highlight the various read-off zones. Legibility is indeed one of the fundamental principles of Pierre DeRoche and is entirely in keeping with the hand craftsmanship traditions of the Vallée de Joux.

Enhancing function security

The Concentric chronograph also gives priority to the ergonomics of its functions: placed on either side of the two sides of the case on a level with the chronograph zone – at 4 and 8 o’clock respectively – the two push-buttons are extremely accessible and their position makes it extremely unlikely that the controls might be accidentally reversed.

Because a watch is a precision instrument in daily use, reliability remains a constant concern for Pierre DeRoche. The movement is thus a technical challenge in which each function is developed so as to achieve extreme security. The case is also subject to the same high demands: to ensure optimal water-resistance, the chronographs are equipped with a double-gasket crown and push-buttons. Moreover, to guarantee water-resistance beyond certain limits, the crown is also screw-locked. As an ultimate protective measure, the bracelet of the men’s watches is fitted with a triple-blade folding clasp.

Perfecting each component
The slightly convex sapphire crystal of the Concentric chronograph reveals the elegance and meticulous decoration of the mechanism. In addition to its new shape, the oscillating weight is decorated with Côtes de Genève, rhodium-plated and engraved with the Pierre DeRoche logo. The circular bridge forming a distinctive crown-shaped motif is decorated with Côtes de Genève and protected by a fine layer of ruthenium chosen for its resistance to oxidation and its high resistance. Moreover, Pierre DeRoche has highlighted the two bridges of the chronograph mechanism by a similar ruthenium-treated decoration. Finally, each movement carries its own number, engraved on the oscillating weight.

For Pierre DeRoche, each component calls for dedicated selection and treatment. Working with exclusively Swiss partners, the company chooses high-quality materials and uses the most modern techniques, while maintaining certain traditional decorative methods.
Thus, each finishing and decorating operation must perfect the brilliance and the resistance of each component, and consequently contribute to the promise of Pierre DeRoche: offering a movement that will find its way through time without ageing. It is with this in mind that the company commits itself to providing regular maintenance for each watch: a fast and effective after-sales service guarantees an overhaul within five weeks.
